France Telecom lags behind with latest ADSL offering

France Telecom is set to launch its light ADSL service by the end of the year, making it cheaper for users to achieve a high-speed internet connection.

NEWS Under its current ADSL offer, users pay over £30 a month for connection from France Telecom's Netissimo, as well as £5 to hire an ADSL modem and an installation cost of £70. The latest deal will reduce the price so users pay a lower connection fee. A spokesman for France Telecom said: "At the moment, to get ADSL you have to phone your operator and upgrade your line, you pay the ISP to allow you to use ADSL and then you have to hire the modem. With light ADSL you do not need a special line installed - it's like plug and play - you use a regular modem and pay less." However, France Telecom is behind competitors with its offer. Rivals Mangoosta and Club Internet already offer light ADSL.
