Energis and Thus force BT's hand with Oftel intervention

Telcos Energis and Thus have won a draft determination from Oftel that BT has to negotiate better terms for wholesale DSL network access.

NEWS BT had proposed that all wholesale DSL services would have to run end-to-end on its own network, however, the two rival telcos wanted to connect onto their own network in order to reduce prices. Neither telco was able to agree a commercial deal with BT and lodged a complaint with the Oftel. The latest ruling by Oftel gives BT until February to agree better terms with Thus and Energis and until April to deliver the wholesale services. However, this is subject to a consultation period which ends in one month.
