NEWS The joint venture, to be called Goldfish Holdings, is a result of a partnership between Goldfish and evolvebank.com, the fledgling internet bank set up by Lloyds TSB, currently being tested in Spain. Scheduled for a 2001 roll out, subject to regulatory approval and ancillary agreement, the new bank, accessible online and over the phone, will allow Goldfish current account customers to withdraw cash from ATMs. Roy Gardner, Chief Executive of Centrica, said in a prepared statement: "This move represents an important development for the Goldfish brand. With the experience of Lloyds TSB and the technological expertise of evolvebank.com, our joint venture will combine the best elements of internet banking, telebanking and integrated money management to create a leading edge financial services proposition for UK customers." Centrica will own 70 per cent of the joint venture while Lloyds TSB will take the remaining 30 per cent stake.
