Tiscali invests in battle for Spanish ISP supremacy

Italian ISP Tiscali is to invest E150m (£91m) in developing its Spanish network as it takes on rival and market leader Terra Lycos.

NEWS Renato Soru, president of Tiscali, said the company's aim is to be the third biggest internet provider in Spain. Following Tiscali's purchase of World Online, the ISP has 200,000 customers in Spain and is currently in talks with Telefonica to negotiate interconnecting networks. In the past Soru has boasted that Tiscali will be the "AOL of Europe."
