NEWS The figure represents a 218 per cent increase on its sales for the same nine-week period leading up to Christmas in 1999. The toy seller recently joined forces with Amazon.com to create a combined online store. In a statement, John Eyler, president and CEO of Toysrus.com, said: "We are delighted by the performance of Toysrus.com during the 2000 holiday selling season. The very impressive sales increases we reported reflect the success of our strategic alliance with Amazon.com." The news will come as a welcome relief for the retailer, which has been the subject of an investigation into a breach of customer data privacy in New Jersey, USA.
