Stockwatch Daily: Telecom stocks in demand as resurgence continues

European exchanges were up in early trading, fuelled by a surge in demand for telecom stocks. The FTSE 100 gained up to 0.2 per cent with Telewest Communications and BT among the biggest gainers, while Scoot.com gained on the Techmark index.

NEWS France Telecom gained on the CAC Paris index. In Germany, the Dax benefited from strong SAP and Deutsche Telekom stock. BAE systems also took a blow, as higher than expected restructuring costs led to a 14.6 per cent drop in share price on the FTSE.
