Egg scrambles to fix servers following botched upgrade

Customers of online bank egg have been left without access to their accounts since Monday because an upgrade to the site crashed the company's servers.

NEWS A spokeswoman for Egg said the company is aware "the site has been up and down" over the last two days, attributing the glitches to the upgrade process. One silicon.com reader complained that he has been unable to access his account since Monday and said the company had denied knowledge of the problem when he originally made enquiries. In an unfortunate twist for the online arm of the Prudential, the downtime comes during Business Continuity Awareness week. We'll have more on this story soon...
