Cisco negotiates the 3G route with RiverSoft

UK network management software specialist RiverSoft is to fuel router giant Cisco's drive into 2.5G and 3G networks.

NEWS The top fixed-line network company is to use a tailored version of RiverSoft's fault management software for Cisco's long-awaited major move into wireless. Jim Pinsky, business development manager at Cisco, said: "Cisco's goal is to accelerate the update of 2.5G and 3G systems. Fault management is a necessary component of a wireless system. RiverSoft will allow us to have availability and reliability approaching existing voice and data networks and accelerate the roll out of the 2.5 and 3G systems. Cisco's products for this level of wireless are, as yet, unannounced. Neither company could put a value on the contract Cisco was one of the first investors in RiverSoft, which has concluded other OEM deals with both Intel and HP.
