Google acquires Deja's discussion groups

US internet search specialist Google has bought the Usenet discussion groups business of troubled internet company Deja.com.

NEWS Usenet is one of the oldest discussion forums on the internet, with archives dating back to 1995. Deja.com has been struggling since last summer, when it cancelled an IPO which had been filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for more than a year. 25 per cent of the staff were fired last September. Deja's Precision Buying Service was recently sold to eBay's half.com.
