Yahoo! Europe sees its MD say a fond farewell

Yahoo! Europe MD Fabiola Arredondo has announced her resignation after four years in the top job at the portal company.

NEWS Spanish-born Arredondo is leaving the portal firm to pursue 'private business interests', but refused to disclose details of her plans. She will stay in the job until a suitable replacement is found. "I am proud to have been part of the team that has built one of the leading internet companies in Europe," she said in a statement. Jeff Mallett, president and COO of Yahoo!, praised Arredondo's leadership and financial skills. Arredondo is one of Europe's most high-profile female internet executives, leaving her job as director of international distribution at BBC Worldwide in 1997 to manage Yahoo!'s team of just 15 European staff. The service now has over 30 million users and reported revenues of £22m for the final quarter of 2000, up from £11.8m in 1999.
