Icon MediaLab sacks 325

Icon MediaLab, the Swedish web consultancy, is axing 325 jobs in offices across the world.

NEWS The company would not reveal how many jobs in the UK will go, but 85 people will lose their jobs in Sweden, subject to union negotiations. A spokeswoman for the company said: "This is part of our refocusing the business. We must make better use of our internal resources and knowledge and less use of sub-contractors." She said the company wanted a more decentralised company structure. The company announced a staff cut of 100 heads in December last year, which is included in today's figure. However, the spokeswoman stated that this is the end of the current round of layoffs. Icon MediaLab has also secured funding of SKr225m (£15.8m) and intends to introduce a staff share option scheme.
