NEWS In early trading the TechMARK index of leading tech stocks was down 19 points, or just under one per cent, to 2,049 points. However some tech stocks bucked the trend, with telco Thus rising 7.4 per cent and competitor Kingston Communications up 4.6 per cent. The broad falls this morning follow another bad day on Friday for the tech-heavy Nasdaq, which fell two and a half per cent, capping a week of record lows for the exchange. Markets on both sides of the Atlantic are now eagerly awaiting the outcome of Federal Reserve boss Alan Greenspan's meeting on Tuesday when he will decide whether to once again cut interest rates. Investors are hoping for a cut in rates to boost economic activity.
Stockwatch Daily: Thus leads recovery amid more falls
Technology shares opened the day slightly down, showing some resistance after large falls all last week on the Nasdaq.
