NEWS The agreement will bring artists from Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment to the world's most popular web portal through the media giants' existing joint venture, Duet. According to Duet, customers will pay a subscription fee through the Yahoo! portal to access the service, which will then allow them to listen to and download music, compile personalised playlists and share them with other Duet members. The service is due to go live in the summer, with streaming available first, and downloads later. The announcement follows a range of similar deals from other recording companies, but in late trading yesterday, Yahoo! shares still leapt 20 per cent on the news.
