Tiscali's spending roadshow rolls into the UK

Internet service provider Tiscali has turned to the UK looking for further acquisitions following a spate of spending on the continent.

NEWS Following the takeover of German ISP Planet Interkom, Tiscali is thought to be interested in UK based ISP IC24, which has long been thought of as a likely acquisition target. Trinity Mirror-owned IC24 is a minor player in the ISP market and Tiscali will have its work cut out to make inroads into the market shares of AOL, BT and Freeserve. With the ISP market consolidating fast through acquisitions such as Freeserve's purchase by Wanadoo, Tiscali is running out of attractive targets as it looks to secure a truly pan-European presence. During a period of rapid expansion Tiscali has acquired Addcom, Libertysurf and World Online and is currently the second largest ISP behind Germany's T-Online.
