NEWS Revenues for the quarter were $59.3m, representing a 119 per cent increase over the comparable quarter of fiscal 2000. Pro forma earnings for the quarter were $9.2m, as compared with pro forma earnings of $3.1m, or $0.04 per share on a diluted basis, in the second quarter of fiscal 2000. For the third consecutive quarter, Micromuse signed over 100 new customers. Greg Brown, CEO of Micromuse, said: "Our outstanding performance in this environment demonstrates both the value that the Netcool suite delivers to customers and its market position as the de facto industry standard." Micromuse announced that turnover in Europe had increased 24 per cent sequentially during the quarter and executives were quite bullish about ongoing prospects. Another point for cheer was the company's relationship with Sun Microsystems, thanks to which the Netcool suite is being promoted through the Sun Professional Services channel. Brown said that the Sun relationship has expanded and gained depth during the last nine-to-twelve months. Micromuse, which was founded in the UK, has a third of resources in the UK. When asked by silicon.com if he expected any change in its UK operations, CEO Greg Brown said that its Putney Bridge Road operations are a significant contributor to the company's software development efforts and he does not anticipate a change in head-count or operations. He went on to say that Micromuse is still recruiting, unlike others companies in the tech sector.
