Welcome, willkommen, bienvenue to multilingual emails

Online translation company WorldLingo today released software that will allow a company to email its customers in their native language.

NEWS The software, named Commercial Email Translator, is aimed at direct marketers and claims to accurately translate company emails into 10 of the world's most popular languages for document distribution including e-zines and newsletters. A recent IDC report found customers are four times more likely to purchase a product if pitched in their own language. In a survey conducted by WorldLingo itself, the company found that 91 per cent of Fortune 500 companies responded incorrectly to a foreign language email enquiry - suggesting their capacity to respond was inadequate. WorldLingo awarded Italian energy firm ENI a Multilingual Email Excellence Award (MEEA) as the company gave the fastest email response in Portuguese within four hours and 20 minutes of the 'acceptable' 24 hour turnaround period. Last October a report by GlobalSight revealed that 62 per cent of Europe's biggest multinational companies failed to understand and address the challenges of globalisation, seeing it as a translation process rather than an IT or business project.
