AOL Time Warner in talks with NTL on European expansion

Media colossus AOL Time Warner is in talks with European cable operator NTL regarding a potential content deal in Europe.

NEWS The news, from press reports on Sunday, could see an alliance between the two firms that would use NTL's distribution capacity to deliver AOL Time Warner's wide-ranging internet content. AOL - part of AOL Time Warner - is the world's most successful ISP, but has not had the same runaway success in Europe as it has so far enjoyed in the US. A deal with NTL would give it access to a broadband network reaching 8.5 million customers. NTL has just completed a £388m financing deal with GE Capitol, easing fears about its financial position.
