Lycos auction site is going, going, gone

ISP ditches its hard work and climbs into bed with rival...

NEWS ISP Terra Lycos is to shelve its own auction site and join forces with eBay. The two companies have signed a five-year deal to co-market and manage the co-branded portal. Former Lycos partner Freemarket has been ousted as the ISP closes its old site. In a statement, eBay welcomed the deal, saying Lycos will help generate exposure and traffic for eBay. The deal comes just a week after eBay competitor QXL stamped a portal agreement with Microsoft. Under that deal QXL will operate on the .NET platform while Microsoft will feature QXL services on its XP operating system.
