Stockwatch Daily: The US rains on UK tech parade

NEWS Economic growth warnings from the US saw European technology stocks open weakly this morning, and the fall continued as trading progressed. The FTSE100 fell for the third day this week, with Energis and Telewest leading the losers. By 11.00(BST) Energis was down 5.42 per cent to 228p and cable operator Telewest had dropped just over six per cent to 102.75p. Vodafone and network equipment maker Spirent were both down over three per cent by mid morning to 164p and 213.75p respectively. Software companies Sage and Logica were also down over three per cent, while Nokia was down five per cent at the start of trading. In Paris, Alcatel, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and STMicroelectronics fared poorly, while on the Frankfurt DAX SAP and Infineon dropped about two per cent.
