Amazon's moving upstream

Faster media downloads to entice more users to spend, spend, spend...

NEWS Amazon is to upgrade its streaming audio and video features to encourage website visitors to spend in the lucrative software, video and music markets. Amazon has partnered with US network firm Speedera to deliver fast digital media downloads to all customers, regardless of their internet connections. Customers could previously download video and audio clips from Amazon's website, only if they accessed it using an ISDN line. The move signals an effort by Amazon to cash in on the profitable electronic media market as it aims towards its end-of-year pro forma profitability target.
