NEWS Microsoft's hugely significant win yesterday pushed the Nasdaq Composite up 2.44 per cent by close yesterday. The controversial software giant closed up 2.25 per cent. The company has won its appeal and will not be broken up - at least not any time soon. Further gains are expected when the US markets awaken later today. Prices will also be buoyed by continued optimism following the Federal Reserve's decision to cut interest rates last Wednesday. In London, while the FTSE100 dipped into the red, on the new markets there were gains in sight. The TechMark was up slightly at 0.24 per cent while the Neuer Markt 50 gained 0.89 per cent
