IP telephony leaves you dazed and confused

NEWS Lack of interest in IP telephony is because users are completely confused by the technology. The way in which the technology has been marketed - and hyped - by manufacturers has taken precedence over giving practical information to potential customers. Of those 220 medium to large companies surveyed, a mere 16 per cent were able to give a definition of what IP telephony actually is. Research commissioned by BT Business Information Systems also showed customers believe there are no benefits to adopting IP telephony over traditional telephone systems. Tim Nelson, IP telephony portfolio manager at BT, said companies need to realise IP telephony can introduce new business benefits.
