Centrica buys One.tel

Reprieve for the irritating goatee beard...

NEWS Centrica, the company formerly known as British Gas, has agreed to buy the UK arm of struggling budget communications company One.tel for £58m. One.tel, the telco backed by Australia's two largest media dynasties, the Murdochs and the Packers, went into administration in May. The business, which has 100,000 ISP customers and 650,000 subscribers for its cheap international telecommunications services, will continue to trade under the One.tel name. A mobile phone service is due to launch later this year. The announcement makes Centrica the UK's largest reseller of telecoms services in the UK.
