Nokia investigated over profit warning leak

Sub contractor lets slip on radio - regulator wades in...

NEWS Nokia is to be investigated by the Helsinki Stock Exchange (HEX) over an alleged leak regarding the company's profit warning. In a radio interview, Ronny Nilsson an executive of Singapore-based mobile equipment sub contractor Flextronics, said he knew about the 12 June profit warning days before it was officially made public. Nokia spokesman Lauri Kivinen told Reuters he has been assured by the radio journalist and Nilsson himself that the comment was a "misunderstanding". He insisted it was impossible that the information could have been leaked before the official release. Sweden's Financial Supervisory Authority has requested that the HEX look into the matter. The profit warning came as a surprise to the markets and sent Nokia's shares spiraling down 20 per cent.
