BT investors slam telco's fat cats

Unbundle the lot of them...

NEWS A fifth of all BT shareholders showed their disdain at fat cat bonuses paid to directors by refusing to endorse the company line, a poll has revealed. During last week's AGM, a group of small investors forced the issue on to the table and proposed a vote on directors' remuneration packages. The results of the poll, reported in today's Financial Times, reveal that 14 per cent of shareholders voted against the bonuses, with another five per cent abstaining. Shareholder approval was never believed to be in doubt and even this level of dissent is seen as another embarrassment for BT.
