BT tries to tempt users back into phone boxes

'More for your money' scheme to counter declining use...

NEWS BT is offering customers 20 per cent more calling time from phone boxes in order to counter the decline in their use. In a two-month initiative during August and September, BT will offer phone box customers 20 per cent more time for their money. A BT spokesman said phone box use has dropped 37 per cent over the last few years and blamed mobile phones for this decline. He said: "We now have to compete with mobile phones, especially pre-pay ones. We don't think we'll slow their use but we think we can offer services that mobile users will be interested in."
