Stockwatch Daily: Euro markets upbeat despite Lucent gloom

Defy poor Nasdaq performances...

NEWS European markets were surprisingly upbeat this morning despite poor overnight performances from the Nasdaq and Dow Jones and disappointing results from Lucent. In Frankfurt Siemens fell at the open, but managed to trade 1.41 per cent up, after posting lower than expected third quarter results. But the Dax still managed to open one per cent up, with the CAC 40 opening 0.6 per cent up and the FTSE up 0.5 per cent. Media shares were also on the move this morning. Reuters fell 3.6 per cent after reporting poor results yesterday, while BskyB rose 0.7 per cent as full year revenue jumped 67 per cent on last year.
