Stockwatch Daily: Big three Euro bourses take a fall

BT among the movers...

NEWS European stocks opened flat to weak this morning led by FT publisher Pearson Media. The group fell over three per cent after reporting slow first half advertising sales and losses on its internet businesses. In London the FTSE was down 0.5 per cent, the Paris CAC fell 0.2 per cent and the Dax in Frankfurt fell 0.1 per cent. Cap Gemini Ernst & Young added 2.2 per cent after reporting first half sales of E4.4bn (£2.7bn). BT rose just 0.3 per cent after Sunday newspapers reported the telco rejected an £8bn offer for its local loop.
