NEWS Yahoo and HSBC are planning to deliver a person-to-person email payments system to their customers worldwide. The system, called Yahoo! PayDirect, will be launched later this year in the US. The companies claim the scheme will enable people to send and receive money at home and worldwide via email, by linking their credit card, debit card or bank account details to their secure Yahoo PayDirect account at HSBC. Customers will sign up for Yahoo! PayDirect across HSBC's customer online services as well as the Yahoo Network. HSBC has previously stated it would be launching an online and offline marketing campaign aimed at Yahoo's 200 million customers. Yahoo also plans to launch a similar campaign to target HSBC's 28 million customers. The financial terms of the PayDirect agreement were not released.
