More people on the net and more people complaining...

NEWS UK telco regulator Oftel has released figures on the country's internet take-up, which show that usage is up 60 per cent, but customer dissatisfaction is also becoming an increasing problem. The number of households with access has jumped from six million to ten million in the last year. Unmetered access is still very popular, with 35 per cent of households preferring it. However, the regulator accepted that consumers are not getting the customer service they require, or the information they need to choose the right service. In a statement, Anne Lambert, director of operations at Oftel, said: "The review confirms that consumers get a good deal for internet access. However, some concerns have been raised about the quality of customer service and the availability of information."
