eBay to hammer competitor for 'passing-off'

BidBay: going, going, gone?

NEWS Internet auction giant eBay has filed a lawsuit against rival BidBay after alleging the smaller company is 'passing off' the look and feel of its site. eBay claims BidBay's logo and site design resemble its own too closely. The auction site also claims that BidBay's name is also a little too similar to its own. According to the BBC, the lawsuit will seek to stop BidBay from using the logo and demand financial compensation. BidBay was launched in January 2000. Its founder George Tannous said he started the rival business after becoming disenchanted with the service levels he experienced on eBay. Tannous bought the BidBay domain name for $1,000 in an eBay-hosted auction.
