NEWS Motorola has agreed to sell its integrated information systems group to US defence contractor General Dynamics for $825m. The Arizona-based Motorola division currently provides military and government departments with technology for secure communication systems. Under the terms of the agreement, the division will wholly assume the General Dynamic name but customers will still be able to access Motorola products. General Dynamics is also expected to take on certain Motorola liabilities. In a statement the company said it anticipated revenues of around $830m next year. Christopher Galvin, CEO at Motorola, said the deal was part of the company's strategy to focus on its core business of selling proprietary technology to other mobile phone companies. He claimed General Dynamic was the "right home" for the government-focused division.
