NTL and Telewest cuddle up

Two won't become one just yet though...

NEWS NTL and Telewest are looking to deepen their relationship ahead of any potential merger. A working group is investigating the benefits of jointly procuring set-top boxes. This could be extended to include cable modems and other IT infrastructure. The two already work together to promote broadband internet access. The two could also work together on video-on-demand services, according to the Financial Times. A full merger is unlikely at this time because of the heavy debt of both companies.
