NEWS Canadian ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky's final NHL game shirt and stick will go under the online hammer later this month.
Internet memorabilia specialist Lelands.com will conduct the sale of the player's items, considered by many as the greatest hockey player in history.
Fans of Gretzky will have to dig deep as the opening bid for the items will be $25,000 and $2,500 for the shirt and stick respectively.
Other items to be auctioned off during the bidding, scheduled for 16-17 August, include a shirt from fellow Canadian star Gordie Howe from the 1974 series against Russia and one of three Reggie Jackson home-run balls from the 1977 World Series.
Gretzky will also go down in history as one of the leading exponents of the mullet.
