NEWS BT has pledged to invest £50m bringing broadband internet connections to boost a new financial services district in central Glasgow. The company will invest £10.5m this year in fibre optic infrastructure to boost broadband internet capacity in the area, which will stretch from Glasgow Central Station to Tradeston. Eighteen office projects are already being planned or built in the area, with a proposed total of two million square feet of office space making room for 20,000 new jobs. The broadband project is backed by BT, Glasgow Council, industry body Scottish Financial enterprise and local development agencies, the Financial Times claims.
