Ex-boss slaps lawsuit on Sonera

Where's that $75m you owe me?

NEWS Finnish telco Sonera has been sued by its former boss, who claims the company owes him $75m. Murray L Swanson, Sonera's ex-US CEO, wants $75m in compensation for the stock options he was allegedly promised but which failed to materialise, according to Finland's leading newspaper Helsingin Sanomat (HS). He says the company promised him millions of dollars in options when he became the US CEO. Swanson justifies the lawsuit by saying he was one of the key figures that helped the company to gain respect in the US. He said in an interview with HS that his business contacts helped the company to acquire VoiceStream, a wireless technology company.
Sonera refused to comment on the case.
