Palm forced to press pause on next generation device

i705 falls foul of documentation error...

NEWS Handheld device manufacturer Palm has pulled its proposal for an upcoming device, because of an error in its documentation to the US Federal Communications Commission (FFC). The announcement comes days after the Palm i705 received approval from the FCC, but by pulling its proposal the company will have to seek approval once again. Palm and Handspring - a licensee of the Palm operating system - retracted their applications for new devices after noticing a mistake in their filings with the FCC. According to the documents approved by the FCC, the Palm i705 will allow users to tap into their corporate email accounts and browse the internet via the MyPalm portal. Other plans for the device include alerting users to new e-mail, and a secure digital expansion for hardware and software add-ons. The papers showing the new product features were removed from the FCC website after Palm and Handspring asked to resubmit their applications.
