BT suffering as Bulldog fetches Video Networks

Everyone's favourite telco in the dog house again...

NEWS Bulldog Communications has confirmed it has been approached by Video Networks and is in discussions about offering an alternative DSL service from BT. Video Networks (VNL), which is suffering from the high costs of BT's digital subscriber lines, is also considering investing cash in Bulldog. Richard Greco, CEO Bulldog Communications said in a statement his company is in talks with a number of service providers. "VNL is one of these companies," he said. With regard to confirming whether VNL will pump cash into the alternative telco he said Bulldog is in negotiations with "potential partners" saying an announcement will be made soon. Video on demand operator VNL currently pays BT £60 per month for each line, plus a connection fee of £625. VNL's income per customer will reach £24 a month following a deal for exclusive video on demand rights to Premier League football, meaning with BT it would still be losing £36 per customer per month.
