Find your lost luggage online

It's still not the same as having it waiting for you on the reclaim conveyor belt though...

NEWS Two web services are being launched to make the chore of travelling even easier for weary commuters and airline passengers alike. Aer Lingus is attempting to lessen the nightmare of losing your luggage in transit with the launch of a service via its website that will enable users to follow the progress of their lost luggage. Users will be able to find out exactly where their luggage is and when they are likely to see it again. Aer Lingus will link to the site, mylostbag.com, which is being run by Swissport in association with the International Air Transport Association and Sita, from its own website. In a separate development, travellers arriving at UK rail stations (with or without their luggage) will now be able to book taxis to come and collect them over the internet. While anybody with a phone is currently able to ring up and book a taxi, Railtrack and transport company FirstGroup have launched the online service at totaljourney.com where travellers will also be able to buy plane and train tickets as well as make hotel reservations. According to the Financial Times the service will be up and running by October.
