Liberty snaffles up £3.5bn DT cable interests

US firm takes European foothold, Deutsche Telekom takes all the help it can get...

NEWS US media conglomerate, Liberty Media has finally agreed to take Deutsche Telekom's cable interests off its hands. The price was fixed at E5.5bn (£3.41bn) for six TV systems, giving Liberty a firm foothold in the European media sector and helping DT reduce its E69bn (£42.8bn) debt. Liberty will pay E3bn (£1.86bn) in cash and the rest in stock and secured notes for a group of cable networks serving 15 million homes
