Buck House receives online facelift

NEWS Buckingham Palace has appointed an internet consulting company to revamp its four-year-old website in an attempt to give it a more 'sophisticated' look and feel. CCG.XM - part of Cordiant Communications, the advertising group - has been contracted to do up the site, which receives more than one illion hits a month. The move follows the launch of the Queen's first internet shopping site, http://www.balmoralcastle.com, which sells goods themed around the Scottish Castle. In addition, there is the royal family's website, http://www.royal.gov.uk, which hosts photographs and descriptions of royal collections, members and their residences. The contract is part of a government scheme designed to increase the amount of information available on the internet on public services and institutions. CCG.XM was a category winner at the recent New Media Age Effectiveness Awards. For video coverage of the event (including the thoughts of CCG.XM's MD), see http://www.silicon.com/a45112 .
