NEWS European markets traded down this morning after the New York Stock Exchange closed yesterday at a three year low. Interest rate cuts by both the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank did not allay investors' fears as the Dow Jones closed down 7.1 per cent and the Nasdaq closed down 6.8 per cent. By 10:00am (BST) this morning the FTSE was down 1.77 per cent and the TechMark fell 1.74 per cent. The Frankfurt Dax dropped 1.66 per cent and the CAC 40 fell 2.09 per cent. Energis, Vivendi and Spirent led the decline in European tech stocks - down 5.34 per cent, 3.57 per cent and 3.66 per cent respectively.
