Airlines suspend online ticket sales

Tragedy in the US sees internet sales channels closed...

NEWS United Airlines and American Airlines - the two companies whose planes were used for the attacks on New York and Washington last week - have suspended the sales of discounted airline tickets via the internet. TWA has also joined the two airlines in removing cheap air tickets available online. Since the tragedy airlines have reported a fall in sales of around $1bn. Travel companies have also seen their share prices fall. Expedia saw it shares fall 34 per cent, Priceline.com's fell 40 per cent fall and Travelocity's fell 43 per cent since the markets opened on Monday.
