Marconi given glimmer of hope with US optical deal

But shares still slip-sliding away...

NEWS Marconi has signed its first US deal for optical networking products, giving morale at the struggling vendor a lift, but failing to stop shares falling 0.75p to 25.5p. The deal with Iris Networks - based in Nashville, Tennessee - will see Marconi providing multi-wavelength optical equipment for the firm's long-distance network services. According to Iris, Marconi was "very aggressive in gaining our business", but neither side has detailed how much the deal will be worth long-term.
