NEWS K chemist chain Boots has decided to close its online digital photo service after demand proved to be "substantially lower" than forecast. In a statement to the London stock exchange, the firm said that the business - called bootsphoto.com - will post a loss of £7.3m for the first six months of the year. In addition Boots will take a £10m hit in costs related to the closure. The service allowed users to store photos online before sending them to friends and family. Boots said it was immediately stopping users uploading new photos onto the site, although it will continue storing existing digital images until the end of October. It plans to re-launch the site in the new year, offering a range of digital services.
