NEWS Internet star eBay is sending its CEO to join the board of directors at investment bank Goldman Sachs. eBay is one of the New Economy's few overwhelming success stories. It is profitable and has impressively held on to its market value. Meg Whitman earlier this year made number 16 in the silicon.com listing of top 50 high tech Agenda Setters. She is also credited with being the former brand manager of kids' classic Mr Potato Head. She will be joining a team that in stark contrast with eBay is very 'old economy' -including the chairman of cake maker Sara Lee and the CEO of BP Amoco.
