Dell prepares to tighten its belt

Top dog cuts profit expectations...

NEWS Dell, the world's largest PC manufacturer, is expected to cut profit expectations in a move that will mirror Compaq's announcement earlier this week. Slack demand is still preying on all PC makers, even Dell and its direct supply model, as for the first time ever, PC sales are set to fall after years of growth. However, an analyst quoted on Reuters said Dell should be able to pick up business during any customer confusion resulting from the HP and Compaq merger.
