BT cries 'save me white van man'

Would you buy a used car off BT?

NEWS BT is planning to offload its fleet of vans and cars as it continues to look for ways to cuts costs. The indebted telco is reportedly in talks with a number of companies who are willing to take control of what is the largest commercial fleet in the UK. The Communication Workers Union has taken a pre-emptive strike in warning BT it will consider strike action if any partnership agreement involving the fleet results in redundancies for any of the division's 700 staff. Any partnership agreement may see BT's vans being used on a contract basis for other companies as well as BT and according to the Guardian a deal will be sorted out by March 2002.
