AOL promotion hits high street

ISPs go head-to-head in offline distribution market...

By Heather McLean, 9 October 2001 15:05

NEWS AOL has struck a distribution deal with Kingfisher to put the ISP's free CD-ROM in B&Q and Comet shops in the UK. The deal gives Kingfisher major promotion rights through the ISP's UK online services, while AOL gets publicity in the offline distribution market. A free trial of AOL's CD-ROM will be promoted in the 260 Comet and 309 B&Q stores. The ISP will attempt to rival Freeserve's similar deal with Dixons and PC World, which was extended yesterday. B&Q will become a commercial partner and content provider for AOL's house and home channel and the lifestyle channel on Compuserve.
