BSkyB betting service clatters into the first hurdle

What are the odds on it getting the go-ahead?

NEWS BSkyB and Ladbrokes have fallen foul of the regulators in their attempts to launch an interactive gambling service. The joint venture has now been referred to the Competition Commission by the Department of Trade and Industry who said it raised competition concerns. The service would have provided sports betting over the internet and telephone as well as via Sky's digital TV platform. However, rival bookmakers raised concerns that all odds offered by Sky would be exclusively provided by Ladbrokes.
